Deployment, Installation, and Configuration

Deployment & Pre-Installation Checklist

1. Floor Loading Capacity: Verify that the datacenter floor can safely hold the weight, given that each unit weighs over 90 kg.

2. Space Requirements: Dedicate a 3U vertical space inside a standard 19-inch rack, preferably positioned below the main UPS system to keep the rack center of gravity low.

3. Thermal Planning: Ensure adequate rear airflow Clearance (minimum 100mm) to manage operating temperatures under 40°C.

Installation Procedure

1. Mounting: For rack deployment, secure the heavy-duty shelf rails into the rack frame. Slide the empty or pre-slotted battery cabinet smoothly onto the rails and bolt the front brackets. For tower setup, utilize the stabilization stabilizing feet.

2. Module Insertion: If shipping separately, insert the internal battery modules carefully until they sit flush against the internal backplane.

3. DC Bus Connection: Turn off the UPS DC breaker if applicable. Connect the rugged blue battery connector cable from the SRT192BP2US output port directly to the external battery port of the primary SRT 8kVA/10kVA UPS. Multiple packs can be daisy-chained in parallel (up to 10 packs) for extreme runtime demands.

Configuration

1. UPS Auto-Detection: The Smart-UPS SRT firmware automatically detects the connected SRT192BP2US external battery pack through integrated smart signaling.

2. Manual Verification via Network Management Card (NMC): Access the UPS LCD display interface or log into the APC Web Management UI. Navigate to Configuration > Battery and confirm that the external battery count matches your physical deployment.

3. Runtime Recalibration: Initiate a controlled runtime calibration test via the NMC to allow the UPS algorithm to calculate updated runtime availability based on the expanded battery capacity.
