Deployment and Installation Guide
The HIKSEMI MGS1 features an intuitive tool-free design paired with specialized structural elements to handle the thermal loads of smartphone attachment.

Opening the Enclosure: Slide back the physical locking clasp or top plate of the MGS1 chassis to expose the internal drive tray and PCB motherboard.

SSD Seat Positioning: Take your M.2 NVMe drive (such as a compact 2230 for minimal weight, or a high-capacity 2280) and insert it smoothly into the M-key slot interface at a 30-degree angle.

Toolless Retention: Press the rear end of the SSD flat against the structural tray layout. Twist or snap the included tool-free rubber retention pin into place to lock down the drive length.

Thermal Component Layering: Strip the protective film from the included high-conductivity silicone thermal pad. Lay it flat across the surface of the NVMe drive to ensure contact with the internal heat-sink layout.

Reassembling the Housing: Slide the metal chassis cover back into place until it clicks firmly shut, ensuring the internal active cooling fan aligns correctly over the airflow channels.
System Configuration and Mobile Integration
Because the MGS1 targets both traditional desktop OS platforms and mobile architectures, configuration requires specific host formatting logic.

Mobile/iPhone ProRes Configuration: For immediate video capture targeting on smartphones, the SSD must be formatted to exFAT with a GUID Partition Map. Connect the MGS1 to a PC/Mac, open your partition utility (Disk Management or Disk Utility), initialize the drive as GPT, and format to exFAT. When connected to the phone, it will immediately register under the native Files app as external storage.

Dual-Port Power Routing: Connect the high-speed data interface port of the MGS1 to the host smartphone or laptop using the included short USB-C to C cable. Connect an external PD fast charger to the secondary Type-C port on the enclosure. The MGS1 will route up to 100W of power directly into the host device while maintaining high-speed data pipelines.

Magnetic Ring Deployment (For Non-Magnetic Hardware): If using a non-MagSafe phone or standard laptop lid, peel the adhesive backing off the auxiliary magnetic ring included in the SKYRS product kit.
