Deployment and Installation Guide

Phase 1: Unboxing and Inspection

  1. Verify the variant type (OS2, OM3, or OM4) indicated on the cassette label matches your network architecture blueprint.

  2. Inspect the pre-installed dust caps on both the front LC connectors and rear MTP/MPO ports. Do not remove them until the exact moment of connection.

Phase 2: Physical Mounting

  1. Align the AM-821 Cassette with the rear or front slots of your compatible 1U/2U/4U fiber patch panel enclosure.

  2. Slide the cassette smoothly into the guide rails until the side locking tabs or push-pins click firmly into place.

Phase 3: Cable Routing

  1. Route the incoming backbone MTP/MPO trunk cable from the rear of the rack enclosure.

  2. Clean the connector end-faces using an approved fiber click-cleaner tool before plugging them into the rear MTP/MPO ports.

  3. Secure trunk cables using velcro ties to prevent physical stress or macro-bends. Maintain a minimum bend radius of 20 times the cable diameter.

Configuration Protocol

1. Polarity Management

The AM-821 cassette supports standardized Polarity methods (Method A, Method B, or Method C) to ensure proper TX-to-RX continuity across your link.

  • Method A (Straight-Through): Uses Type A cassettes on both ends with a flip in the patch cord.

  • Method B (Flipped): Uses Type B cassettes and trunks for direct parallel migration paths.

2. Patching and Mapping

  • Uncap the front-facing LC duplex ports sequentially as you patch server or switch uplinks.

  • Map each duplex port according to your logical channel planning scheme (Ports 1-12 correspond directly to Trunk 1 cores).

  • Perform an optical loss test using an OTDR or light source/power meter to baseline the link budget performance before migrating live production traffic.
