Variant Compatibility Matrix
Ruckus APs are sensitive to power levels; using the correct injector ensures the “Power Mode” in the AP settings remains at “Full Power.”
Installation Steps
Mounting: If possible, mount the injector to a wall or rack using the integrated screw slots to ensure maximum airflow.
LAN Connection: Connect an Ethernet cable from your non-PoE network switch (Catalyst, ICX, etc.) to the “Data In” port on the injector.
Access Point Feed: Connect a high-quality Cat6 or Cat6A cable from the “PoE Out” port to the PoE/LAN port on the Ruckus AP.
Verification: Power on the injector. The PWR LED on the Ruckus AP should turn solid green. If it flashes amber, the AP is in “Reduced Power Mode” due to insufficient wattage.
Intelligent Throughput Management
CDP/LLDP Pass-through: The injector allows Cisco Discovery Protocol and LLDP packets to pass through, enabling SmartZone or Unleashed controllers to see the physical connection details.
Plug-and-Play: No manual configuration is needed for the injector. It performs an active handshake to ensure only the requested power is delivered.
Status Monitoring: The injector features a dedicated LED to distinguish between “Power On” (Standby) and “PoE Active” (Handshake successful).
